Roopkund trek
Uttarakhand has numerous exciting places, one of them being a mysterious lake named Roopkund which is located in the Chamoli district. It has an altitude of 5,029m and 16,499 feet above the level sea. It is one of the most beautiful as well as the most popular treks which offer magnificent scenery. The best time to visit the trek is from the end of May to October. The trek is 24km from the wan village of Chamoli. It is 2 metres deep, and there is a thick layer of snow around the sides. This trek ranges in complexity from easy to moderate. The bones are thought to be those of 300 persons who perished 500–600 years ago. And some other people believe that their remains are General Zorawar’s soldiers skeletons who died during the vain attempt to conquer tibet.
